This is the story of a talkative and imaginative eleven-year-old orphan, Anne-spelled with an ‘e,’ as she stresses to new acquaintances. Elderly siblings Mathew and Marilla Cuthbert change ‘wrong to right’ when they accept Anne instead of the boy they requested, a choice worth making, as Anne brightens up life at Green Gables with her endless stories and misadventures.
Her imagination creates a world of fantasy around the lakes, woodlands, valleys, and the countryside. Her ability to get into scrapes, make mistakes, and her fiery temper keeps Marilla on her toes. However, Anne sweetly consoles Marilla that she never repeats a mistake. Anne’s endearing spirit makes her win Diana Barry as her bosom friend.
