صدر حديثا عن الدار المصرية اللبنانية كتاب تاريخ مصر فى العصور الوسطى والذى ترجمه الى العربية وحققه وعلق عليه الباحث والمتخصص والمدقق احمد سالم سالم وراجعه وقدمه الدكتور المؤرخ أيمن فؤاد سيد، يعد هذا الكتاب موسوعة ميسرة لكل مهتم بتاريخ مصر الإسلامية حيث شغل تاريخ مصر الإسلامية او مايطلق عليه المستشرقون تاريخ مصر فى العصور الوسطى اهتمام المؤرخين على اختلاف مشاربهم نظرا لما يتمتع به من مكانه وتأثير فى التاريخ على وجه الإجمال، وفى تاريخ أمة الإسلام على وجه الخصوص، لذا لم يفت مستشرقا بحجم وقيمة الانجليزى ستانلى لين بول ان يخصص له كتابا نال صيتا وانتشارا واسعين فى الاوساط العلمية والاكاديمية على مستوى العالم منذ نشره عام 1901م، ولأكثر من قرن من الزمان بسبب مايتمتع به مؤلفه من ثقل وشهرة ونظرة شامله ودقيقه، حاول من خلالها حصر اهم الأحداث التاريخية والأسماء والتواريخ فى هذه الحقبة الزمنية التى امتدت لتسعمائة عام منذ الفتح الاسلامى لمصر عام 23هـ، وحتى الفتح العثمانى عام 923هـ، وعزز ذلك بقوائم على جانب كبير من الأهمية للولاة والعمال والسلاطين والخلفاء، فضلا عن الصور والاشكال التوضيحية ولم يفت المترجم ان يحدث فى تعليقاته بعض معلومات الكتاب بما يواكب مستجدات البحث التاريخي، زيادة على وضع فهارس تقوم بتسهيل مهام الباحث والمطلع على حد سواء، وجدير بالذكر انه على الرغم من اعتماد كثير من المؤرخين على هذا الكتاب فى صورته الاصلية الا ان هذه هى المرة الاولى التى يترجم فيها الكتاب الى العربية لتتسع دائرة الاستفادة مما حواه من معلومات تاريخية موثقة متشبعة وغزيرة
